NATIONAL ENVIRONMENT AWARENESS CAMPAIGN
(NEAC 2008-09)


The National Environment Awareness Campaign, launched by Ministry of Environment and Forests, Government of India (http://envfor.nic.in) in 1986, is a multi-media campaign which utilizes conventional and non-conventional methods of communication for disseminating environmental messages to a wide range of target groups. The campaign is conducted on specific themes selected by the Ministry every year. The programme is being implemented through the designated Regional Resource Agencies (RRAs) for specific states/regions of the country. Centre for Environment and Development is functioning as the RRA for Kerala, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands.

NEAC 2008-09, is scheduled to conduct between November 24, 2008 and February 27, 2009 with “Climate Change” as the main theme. Under this campaign, nominal financial assistance will be provided to registered NGOs, schools, colleges, universities, research institutions, women and youth organizations, Government Departments, local governments etc for conducting awareness raising activities.

In order to provide the framework for preparing good proposals and to discuss about the possible activities for conducting the campaign more effectively, pre-proposal workshops will be conducted at Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kozhikode as per the schedule given below:

Thiruvananthapuram: Monday, 4th August 2008, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
YMCA(Ground Floor Hall), Statue

Ernakulam: Tuesday, 5th August 2008, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Renewal Centre, Azad Road, Kaloor

Kozhikode: Wednesday, 6th August 2008, 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm
Hotel New Nalanda, Aravind Ghosh Road, Behind Head Post Office

To have a clear understanding on the programme and preparation of proposals, the agencies/institutions interested are requested to attend one workshop at a convenient venue. They may also confirm their participation in the workshop through a telephone call to CED (0471 2369720, 369721) or through an email to cedneac@gmail.com

Application form downloaded from this website shall be used for submitting the proposal. Application forms are also available from the CED office. The application, complete in all respect, should reach "The Executive Director, Centre for Environment and Development, Thozhuvancode, Vattiyoorkavu P.O., Thiruvananthapuram – 695 013" on or before 25th August, 2008.
