  NEAC, launched in 1986 by the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF), (http://envfor.nic.in/) Government of India , is a multi-media campaign which utilizes conventional and non-conventional methods of communication for disseminating environmental messages to a wide range of target groups. The campaign is conducted every year on specific themes selected by the Ministry. The programme is being implemented through the designated Regional Resource Agencies (RRAs) for specific states/regions of the country.CED is the Regional Resource Agency (RRA) for Kerala, Lakshadweep and Minicoy Islands.

Under this campaign, nominal financial assistance is provided to registered NGOs, schools, colleges, universities, research institutions, women and youth organizations, Government Departments, local governments etc., for conducting awareness raising activities. The activities include awreness programmes like seminars, workshops, training programmes, camps, padayatras, rallies, public meetings, exhibitions, essay/debate/painting/poster competitions, folk dances and songs, street theatre, puppet shows, preparation and distribution of environmental education resource materials etc., followed by an action programme related to the theme of the campaign, conducted with community participation.

NEAC 2010-11
MoEF invited project proposals from Government and non-governmental organizations, educational institutions, professional associations, scientific bodies, community organizations etc. for NEAC 2010-11.

The focal theme for this year’s canpaign is “Biodiversity Conservation”.
 
The last date for receiving application at CED in the prescribed proforma  is 20th August, 2010. 

Pre-proposal Workshops

In order to discuss the framework for preparing good proposal and to familiarize with the theme of the campaign, it is decided to conduct three pre-proposal workshops as per the date and venue shown below:

 1.  30-07-2010, 2 PM    - Institution of Engineers Hall, Vellayambalam Thiruvananthapuram
 2.  02-08-2010, 2 PM    - Kottayam Public Library Hall, Sastri Road, Kottayam
 3.  03-08-2010, 10 AM  - Hotel New Nalanda Hall, Town Hall Road, Kozhikode
Interested organization/institution may send their representative to attend the workshop at a convenient place and also confirm their participation in the workshop through phone (0471 2369720, 21) or email (neac@cedindia.org), on or before 29th July, 2010
