WATER SUPPLY AND SANITATION PROJECT AT KALIKAVU; KRWSA PROJECT

The project envisages providing potable water to the entire population of Kalikavu Panchayat in demand-driven approach and through community participation. Hygiene promotion and sanitation to the entire environment of the locality is also covered by the project. The project consisted of identification of the beneficiary groups, their capacity building, and identification of demand in each BG area, exploration of water sources and construction and supervision of various components of water supply schemes. It also involved groundwater recharging activities, sanitation and hygiene promotion activities and identification of self-help groups, projects and capacity building for SHGs and women empowerment. The project was carried out under the leadership of the Grama Panchayat and with the participation of all the Departments, institutions and other agencies in the area.
