KERALA WATER SUPPLY PROJECT (KWSP), PMC & DSCFunding Agency: Japan Bank for International Cooperation The KWSP being implemented by the Kerala Water Authority with assistance from Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC), spreads over 5 districts of Kerala viz. Thiruvananthapuram, Kollam, Alappuzha, Kozhikode and Kannur. The schemes under the project are:
KWSP comprises of detailed engineering, tendering and award and construction supervision for the above five separate schemes. The project covers a whole range of engineering aspects and includes water intakes, raw water pumping and transmission, water treatment plants, treated water pumping and transmission, service reservoirs, booster stations, distribution systems, telemetry and SCADA, various investigations and surveys and rehabilitation of existing treatment plants and pipelines. The Consultancy agreement was awarded in 2003 to Tokyo Engineering Consultants Consortium comprising of five separate consultancies, namely Tokyo Engineering Consultants Co., Japan (lead consultant), Black & Veatch, United Kingdom, GKW Consult GmbH (now Poyry Environment GmbH), Germany, Shah Technical Consultants, Mumbai and Centre for Environment and Development, Kerala. |
