The earth’s climate is dynamic and always changing through a natural cycle. The world is more worried about the changes that are occurring today have been speeded up because of human’s activities. Human communities are also threatened by climate change as sea level rise, storms become more intense, and episodes of drought and flooding in increase. The Climate Change and Energy Program focuses on the improvement of understanding of climate change impacts especially for poor countries. It tries to identify the strategies and technologies through which the Green House Gas emissions can be minimized and controlled. It also explores the sustainable livelihood opportunities of poor communities in the light of climate change impacts and also works on the strategies to be adopted in the energy and environment sector to reduce GHG emission . The core objective is to continue generating better understanding of the impacts of the climate change and set-up pilot adaptation projects especially at the local government level focussing on Clean Development Mechanism and Carbon Trading.
